Typically when people say “communication is key” about relationships, they’re talking about maintaining them instead of starting them. But in Voicemails for Isabelle, the emotional new rom-com on Netflix starring Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson, an unconventional form of communication is the meet-cute that brings them together. Here’s what you need to know about the cast and characters telling this story.
Zoey Deutch plays Jill
Jill is an aspiring baker in San Francisco.
Maybe you know Zoey Deutch from romantic comedies like Set It Up, The Threesome, and Something From Tiffany’s. Maybe you know her from collaborating with director Richard Linklater in Nouvelle Vague and Everybody Wants Some!! She also starred in the indie Before I Fall. Or maybe you’re a Vampire Academy and/or Zombieland and/or Beautiful Creatures fan! Way back when, she also had a recurring role on The Suite Life On Deck. All are valid.

Harry Shum Jr. plays Andy
Andy is one of Wes’ friends who happens to be getting married.
Harry Shum Jr. is best known for playing Mike Chang on Glee. After that, he crushed it as Magnus Bane on Shadowhunters, joined Grey’s Anatomy for several seasons, and was also a total scene stealer in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Remember when he showed up at the end of Crazy Rich Asians? Still waiting on that sequel!!

Arthur is Jill’s coworker to love interest to rival. Kind of the worst pipeline, IMO!
Lukas Gage’s recent film credits include Smile, Companion, People We Meet On Vacation, Road House randomly, and How To Blow Up A Pipeline. Television-wise, you might know him from the first season of The White Lotus, Fargo, Euphoria, American Vandal, and Love, Victor.
