‘Sicario’ Scribe Taylor Sheridan To Script French Remake ‘Disorder’

EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Sheridan, the writer who followed Sicario with Hell Or High Water, has just been set by Sony Pictures and Escape Artists to script Disorder. Pic is a remake of the 2015 French film, which starred Matthias Schoenaerts as an ex-soldier with PTSD hired to protect the wife and child of a wealthy Lebanese businessman while he’s out of town. Despite the apparent tranquility in Maryland, the soldier perceives an external threat. Diane Kruger also starred and Alice Winocour directed. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Tony Shaw will produce Disorder, and David Beaubaire is overseeing it for the studio.

This seems like a fastball down the middle of the plate for Sheridan, who quickly established himself with the rousing successes of Sicario and now Hell Or High Water. He’s currently scripting the Sicario sequel Soldado for Lionsgate, which has Stefano Sollima directing, and Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin set to reprise. Sheridan wrapped his directorial debut, Wind River, which he also wrote. The movie is in post and stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen. Acacia, Thunder Road and Film 44 produced.

Escape Artists is about to open Magnificent Seven, the remake for MGM and Sony that Antoine Fuqua directed with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt heading the ensemble. The film debuted in Toronto and Venice.

Sheridan is represented by Jenny Wood at Elevate Entertainment, Bayard Maybank and Bob Hohman at Gersh and Neil Meyer at Meyer & Downs LLP. ICM Partners reps Winocour and brokered the remake deal with Sony.
