What, exactly, is a summer movie? For some, it’s a superhero blockbuster that gets the whole family out of the house; for others, it’s a film festival gem that’ll have you waxing poetic on Letterboxd. Maybe it’s an instant cult-classic horror flick that makes you sleep with the lights on, or a quirky comedy you’ll be quoting throughout vacation. Whatever it is, you’re bound to find it this season.
From coming-of-age rom-coms to sci-fi adventures and some big-name franchises (The Odyssey is probably the oldest IP there is), the 2026 summer slate has something for every kind of moviegoer. Here are the ones to watch.
Voicemails for Isabelle

Your next summer rom-com obsession is calling. Zoey Deutch stars as Jill, a woman coping with the death of her sister (the titular Isabelle) by continuing to send voicemails to her old phone. What she doesn’t know is that Isabelle’s number has been reassigned to a handsome real estate agent, Wes (Nick Robinson). Fun fact: Este Haim and Amanda Yamate (Do Revenge) wrote the original score for the film.
On Netflix June 19.
