EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has set a July start date in Vancouver for Voicemails For Isabelle, an original romcom written and to be directed by Leah McKendrick and starring Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson. Latter’s deal is being wrapped up.
Escape Artists is the production company, and Becky Sanderman is producing with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.
Deutch will play a young woman copes with her sister’s death by leaving her voicemails chronicling her chaotic life in San Francisco. When the number is unknowingly reassigned, an elusive Austin real estate agent begins receiving the hilariously confessional messages.
McKendrick is a Nicaraguan-Irish multi-hyphenate from San Francisco. In addition to Voicemails for Isabelle, she also wrote, directed, and starred in the fertility comedy Scrambled, which premiered at SXSW and was released theatrically by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Up next, she is writing and directing her very own Universal monster movie produced by James Wan for Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.
