Alison Brie Joins ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie as Evil-Lyn

Alison Brie is the latest superstar to join the live-action “Masters of the Universe” movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films.
Brie has been cast as supervillain Evil-Lyn, starring opposite Nicholas Galitzine’s central hero He-Man and Camila Mendes (as Teela, captain of the royal guard and at times love interest for He-Man).
Plot details are being kept under wraps for the film — which will be released theatrically on June 5, 2026 — but the story centers on Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into the muscular He-Man. With the help of his magical Power Sword, the hero is tasked with defending his home planet from the evil sorcerer Skeletor. Evil-Lyn is Skeletor’s second-in-command and wields a magic wand topped with a crystal orb.
Travis Knight (“Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Bumblebee”) is on board to direct the long-awaited new “Masters of the Universe” movie, which has been in various stages of development since 2007. Chris Butler penned the screenplay, following initial drafts written by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing.
The popular Mattel franchise launched in 1982 as a line of action figures, followed by the animated series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” in 1983. The 1987 movie starred Dolph Lundgren (as He-Man), Frank Langella (Skeletor) and Meg Foster (Evil-Lyn).
Brie is best known for her roles in the acclaimed comedy series “Community” and “Glow” (for which she was nominated for two Golden Globe awards and four Screen Actors Guild awards). In 2009, she won a SAG award as part of the ensemble cast of “Mad Men.” Brie’s resume also includes “Spin Me Round” (which she co-wrote and produced), “Horse Girl” (which she co-wrote and produced), “The Rental” and “Promising Young Woman.” She currently stars in Peacock’s “Apples Never Fall” and the romantic comedy “Somebody That I Used To Know,” which she co-wrote and executive produced with husband Dave Franco (who directed).
Brie is represented by WME and Rise Management. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report her casting.
