Denzel Washington says The Equalizer 3 is very different than the first two Films

Robert McCall, portrayed by Denzel Washington, has been struggling to reconcile with the heinous actions he committed in his previous life as a government assassin, ever since he left that path behind. However, he finds a unique sense of solace in his pursuit of justice for those who have suffered from oppression. While exploring southern Italy, he is taken aback by a sudden feeling of belonging. However, he quickly becomes aware that his newly found friends are being manipulated by local crime bosses. As the events take a deadly turn, McCall becomes aware of his responsibility to protect his friends and makes the decision to confront the mafia.
The movie hits theaters exclusively September 1st.
“For me it’s very different than the first two films,” Washington expressed, as he elaborated on the distinguishing factors that set this film apart from its two predecessors. He mentioned that McCall will face consequences in this film that result from his past actions.
It is evident that McCall is currently confronting his personal demons from the past.
Denzel expressed that the content is characterized by increased violence and bloodshed. In this instance, we observe that Robert McCall is driven by a strong desire for violence, and he appears to derive pleasure from it. It extends beyond the typical safeguarding of ordinary individuals.
In comparison to the other films, this particular film was exclusively filmed in Italy. Italy is portrayed as a character in the film. I love the Italian people for their language, their food, and the love they have for each other. I have gained a significant amount of knowledge. I have been coming here for vacation for 31 years. I went to Tuscany in the 90s to film Much Ado About Nothing. I have been here since August, and over time, I have gained a better understanding of the culture and history. “It was a great place to shoot our film,” replied Washington when asked about filming in Italy.
Regarding McCall’s presence in Italy, Denzel expressed, “He is exactly where he is meant to be.”
