Tony Shaw Leaves Captivate For Escape Artists
EXCLUSIVE: Escape Artists is adding another executive to its roster. Tony Shaw, who had been director of development at Captivate Entertainment for the past seven years, has left to join the production company behind such films as Southpaw, The Equalizer and The Magnificent Seven, which will be released in September. He joins Escape Artists as a VP and will oversee the development of both feature and television projects.
The company also have the high-profile development projects The Billionaire’s Vinegar with Matthew McConaughey attached to star and Masters of the Universe with McG aboard to direct. They have a first-look deal at Sony and a TV first-look deal at FX. They just wrapped the pilot Prototype for the sci–fi channel this past week.
While at Captivate, Shaw helped develop the Bourne film series based on the Robert Ludlum books of the same name. Prior to Captivate, he worked in the feature literary department of ICM.
